Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 1598

When Shawn left, life for Emily returned to its once familiar rhythm, with one significant difference: Charlie would no longer be around.

On a Friday afternoon, Charlie left a business luncheon at two o'clock. On his way back to the office, he suddenly instructed, "Turn at the intersection up ahead. We need to make a stop at the Bright Commercial Center."

Kent, his driver, quickly acknowledged his instruction. Upon arriving in Sunset Ridge, Charlie had Kent park under the shade of a tree outside the neighborhood, choosing to remain in the car and wait.

Confused, Kent asked, "Mr. James, aren't you getting out?"

"No," replied Charlie, motionless.

About half an hour later, Ms. Simmons returned from grocery shopping with Kya.

From behind the car window, Charlie watched as Kya held onto Ms. Simmons' fingers to cross the street. The little girl was radiating with youthful energy, her round face beaming, lips rosy, and teeth as white as pearls. The sun illuminated her fair skin as she playfully hopped across the road, hand in hand with Ms. Simmons.

Her light blue dress, complete with a butterfly bow made of pink ribbon around her waist, and two small braids bouncing as she walked, made her look extraordinarily cute.

Charlie watched Kya as she scanned her surroundings, her eyes landing on the direction of his parked car. She seemed to hesitate, as if she wanted to stop, but was led away by Ms. Simmons through the gates of the neighborhood.

Slowly, their figures grew distant until they were out of sight.

In a low voice, Kent suggested, "Mr. James, if you miss Kya, why don't you step out of the car and see her?"

Charlie, his eyes deep and thoughtful, shook his head slowly as he watched the direction in which Kya had disappeared. "No, let's go back to the office."

That same afternoon, while on set watching Yulia act, Estelle received a call from Jonathan. His voice was soft as he asked, "What time do you finish work?"

Moving to a quieter area, Estelle replied, "We're wrapping up after one more scene. We should be done earlier today."
