Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen novel Chapter 363

Eileen just couldn’t stop laughing!

She was laughing so hard that she practically leaned onto Egbert, nearly rolling off the couch in fits of giggles.

Egbert, a bit exasperated, wrapped an arm around her shoulders and took her phone, putting it on speaker. He spoke to the person on the other end, known as NightKing, "She said something happened to your mentor."

There was a brief pause on the line before NightKing, recognizing Egbert's voice, asked coolly, "What happened?"

Eileen was laughing so hard her stomach hurt and managed to say between gasps, "Hahaha! No idea! Hahaha! But something definitely went wrong! Hahaha!"

Egbert wiped the sweat from Eileen's forehead and said, "Don't be so..."

"Snort."

Egbert: "..."

He looked down at the phone in his hand, surprised.

"Snort."

It was unmistakable; NightKing was laughing too.

Eileen: "Hahahahaha!"

NightKing: "Snort... hmm... ha... snort... snort..."

Egbert: "..."

NightKing's laughter was slightly more restrained, but not by much.

Egbert was at a loss. Their mentor had run into trouble, and yet these two protégés seemed to be having the time of their lives.

Egbert squeezed Eileen's fingers gently, "Alright, that's enough."

But Eileen, holding her sides, shook her head, "I can't help it! It's just too funny! Hahaha!"

NightKing on the other end chimed in, "Yeah."

Egbert: "..."

Egbert furrowed his brow and told NightKing, "You’ve been informed. I'm hanging up now."

Just as he was about to end the call, NightKing spoke again, "Eileen."

Eileen, still trying to catch her breath, responded, "Yeah?"

NightKing asked, "Did you have anything to do with what happened to him?"

Eileen: "..."

Eileen paused, her laughter stuck in her throat, and she buried her face into Egbert's chest, murmuring sheepishly, "...Yeah..."

NightKing said, "Nicely done."

Eileen: "..."

Eileen grinned broadly, "Hehe."

NightKing encouraged her further, "Keep it up next time."

Eileen responded eagerly, "Yes!!!"

NightKing added, "Next time something this good happens, let me know so I can join in the fun."

Eileen nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!!!"

Egbert: "..."

Egbert ended the call.

He realized that through this rebellious act, these two, who usually fought each other whenever they met, had somehow grown closer.

After the call, Eileen hugged Egbert's waist, cheerfully saying, "Galen was right. Superstition is nonsense. I had a bad feeling this morning, but it turned out to be the opposite! Today is definitely a great day!"

Egbert patted her head and asked, "Still up for a movie?"

Eileen perked up, "Yes!"

They eagerly went to see Eyes on the Rendezvous, but the movie had no interest in them.

The ticket clerk, speaking fluent English, politely informed them, "Sorry, folks, but it’s sold out. You can choose another movie if you’d like."

Egbert adjusted his cap lower and said, "We’ll take tickets for the next show."

The ticket clerk responded, "The next show is sold out too."

Eileen couldn’t help but ask, "What about the show after that?"

The ticket clerk looked at the seating chart and replied warmly, "Eyes on the Rendezvous has six screenings today, all sold out. If you want to see it, please come early tomorrow. The festival lasts three days, and all festival-goers can attend."
