Holden was getting increasingly agitated the more he thought about it, even wanting Ian just to buzz off. He just wanted Maja to stay for dinner.

But deep down, he hoped for a reconciliation between the two.

Even though he had promised Maja once that he would no longer meddle in their relationship, Ian was his grandson, and naturally, he wanted the best for him.

So he made a sarcastic remark and then pointed upstairs.

"People from the Haskins family asked me to paint him an oil painting. Maja, Ian, you guys do it. Dinner might take another two hours. You guys working together, I'm sure it'll be done faster."

Maja was a student of Herbert, who was particularly good at oil paintings.

She had painted with Ian before. A long time ago, in Crystalbrook Valley, she had found that Ian was really good at painting, and their understandings matched perfectly.

He did this, perhaps hoping they would reconcile.

She couldn't refuse in his presence, so she nodded her head.

Holden waved his hand, "Ian knows where my study is. I've put everything you need there. Just start painting and when it's done, I'll have someone collect it."

Ian didn't disappoint Holden's expectations and stood up immediately.

Maja had no other choice but to follow him upstairs.

She had visited his study before. The room was neatly decorated with almost an entire wall of books.

The table in the middle was big. The paper was already laid out, and even the signature was already written. It was clearly a gift for the elder of the Haskins family.

Maja started examining the paints. This time, they were doing an oil painting, and most of the paints were of darker tones.

There was a row of brushes on a stand next to them. Everything was ready.

But she didn't know what to paint, so she glanced at Ian, who was also looking at her.

Their surroundings were quite old-fashioned, and their eyes met for a brief moment.

"What should we paint?" she asked.

As she was dragged here on short notice, she didn't have any ideas in mind.

"Just paint the one you did at Crystalbrook Valley."
