Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 860

Stella sat a little farther away from Silas, but she could still see him flipping through a stack of photos. She could make out that the people in the pictures were men and women, but no matter how hard she squinted, the main subject’s face stayed blurry.

She watched Silas’s expressions shift—confusion, frustration, a flicker of pain. There was something seriously off about this man.

Thinking about her past patients, and drawing on her experience, Stella’s intuition screamed at her: his headaches weren’t normal. They were textbook signs of amnesia.

Yes—amnesia! That had to be it.

Without hesitation, she grabbed her phone and fired off a message to Marguerite on Facebook: **[Sis! Silas is with me now for counseling. Big news! Huge news!!!]**

Her triple exclamation points made Marguerite frown. **[Don’t make me come over there.]**

**[I’m not asking you to come,]** Stella replied quickly. **[It’s just… Silas is acting really strange! I tried asking about his memories, but he couldn’t remember a thing! And when he tried, he got such a bad headache I thought he was going to pass out. Scared me half to death!]**

Messages from Stella began pouring in, a rapid-fire string Marguerite barely had time to process. But her eyes caught on the last line: Silas was having another headache.

Her pulse skipped. **[How is he now? Did he take anything? Did you bring him to the hospital?]**

**[He didn’t take anything, and he wouldn’t let me take him to the ER. He just sprayed a little cologne and seemed to calm down.]**

Cologne?

Marguerite went silent, her mind racing. Silas never wore cologne. The only bottle he owned was the Polar Radiance she’d given him that night.

So—was he telling the truth? Did her gift actually help with his headaches?

What was this, some kind of supernatural phenomenon?
