Bride Behind the Mask novel Chapter 823

Half an hour later.

Two bodyguards drove Margot to school. She stumbled out of the car, feeling like a zombie, her mind clouded by an overwhelming fear that seemed all too familiar. It was as if she was reliving the nightmare from six months ago.

Her body trembled, and a chill spread through her feet as she walked towards the school entrance. It was there she spotted Marguerite emerging from the building. The moment Marguerite saw Margot, she rushed over, concern etched on her face.

Margot's nerves tightened again, and she instinctively glanced over her shoulder.

The bodyguards' car was already gone, but her anxiety didn't fade.

"Weren't you supposed to wait for me to pick you up? Why did you sneak out on your own? I just looked all over the school for you..." Marguerite's words stopped abruptly.

As she got closer, Marguerite noticed the bruise on Margot's forehead and saw her shaking like a leaf.

She immediately pulled Margot into a comforting hug, asking urgently, "What happened? Did someone hurt you?"

Margot's pent-up emotions flooded out. Being held by Marguerite felt like being back in her mother's arms, a safe haven for her troubled heart. She was safe again.

Tears streamed down her face, and Marguerite's heart ached for her. "Margot, who bullied you? Tell me, and I'll handle it! Was it one of the kids from preschool?"

She remembered Hayes mentioning how Margot was often left out because she was a bit different, leading to bullying.

With that thought, Marguerite took Margot's hand, intending to head into the school.

But Margot quickly pulled her hand back, shaking her head frantically. "It wasn't the preschool kids, no!"
