Chapter 75
Zavu stopped behind Josephine and sighed as he bargained, “Josephine, if you had agreed to let Nadine off the hook–not entirely, of course, but if you’d done anything else other than call the cops on her–1 wouldn’t be forced to do this.”
Josephine stayed quiet. She didn’t feel like speaking to him right now, or ever.
He continued, “Couldn’t you have at least considered things from my perspective? It Forbes Group’s only talent gets in trouble with the law, no other celebrities will want to sign with us!
“This would–be scandal would have ruined my plans to launch the company in the entertainment industry. You’ve started a chain of events with far–reaching consequences that are more complicated than you think!”
Josephine did not so much as glance at Zayn after his long–winded explanation. He reached for her shoulder. “Josephine…” he began.
“Don’t touch me!”
He grew exasperated. He had only wanted to grab her by the shoulder to turn her around to face him, but the slightest brush of his fingers had her recoiling dramatically. She couldn’t even care less that she bumped into the table beside her.
She dashed over to a passing police officer who was holding a folder. The officer cut Zayn a dubious look before fixing his gaze on Josephine. “Is something the matter, miss?”
Josephine’s eyes were red as she shot Zayn a waring glare. “Come near me again and I’ll tell the police you molested me!”
Zayn froze, not because of her words but because of the vicious look in her eyes. In the four years be had known her, this was the first time he had seen her regard him with such loathing-
It was pure, unadulterated loathing. Did she truly feel that way about him?
Zayn’s brows furrowed as he struggled to accept this.
“Josephine, stop messing around. I’m your husband, and my touching you is not a crime. You’ll make a fool of yourself.”
“Oh, you won’t be my husband in a while longer. Not that you were ever worthy of being my husband,” Josephine retorted, her eyes like chips of ice as she fixed
him a contemptuous look “From now on, don’t even lay a finger on me or come within a three–feet radius of me.
“Also, keep Nadine on her leash. I’ll let this incident slide because you agreed to sign the divorce papers, but if she pulls another stunt like this, I’ll make sure she’s punished tenfold!”
The blood drained from Zayn’s face as foreboding filled him. Had he made a mistake by agreeing to sign those divorce papers?
He had only obliged with Joseplurie’s demands because he wanted to get Nadine out of this mess. He could always destroy the papers afterward and let the marriage continue. After all, the divorce was not finalized or valid until the court stamped and sealed the papers.
