"Let's go."

Ethan was caught off guard by her words. "Where are we going?"

"Didn't you say you were going to buy me a slice of cake?"

He didn't expect her to still want to go. Ethan stared at her tear-filled eyes and nodded. "Let's go, it's just ahead."

As they continued walking, the mood was entirely different.

Ethan slowed down his pace while Josephine walked slowly as well.

Staring at the tightly shut door, Josephine shrugged. "Well, looks like we won't get cake tonight. Let's go home. I'll call an Uber."

She opened Uber and clicked on her home address. "Why don't you call an Uber too? It's late. If we share a ride, it will take a long time for you to get home."

Ethan replied, "I don't have the app on my phone."

"Let's share a car then."

The ride arrived quickly. Before the car could fully stop, Josephine reached out for the door handle and pulled it open.

The driver was startled. He was about to lash out at Josephine, but the moment he saw her face, he swallowed his words.
