Jonathan did not expect Christopher to be so protective of Cecilia.
What Christopher just said was like a loud slap on his face, which made him very embarrassed. Jonathan would have punched the other party in the face if it had been anyone else. Unfortunately, that person was Christopher, whom he couldn’t afford to mess with.
“Mr. Forte, there are indeed some misunderstandings between Ceci and our family. Once the misunderstandings are cleared, we will be fine again. I hope we can still cooperate in the future,” Jonathan said.
Christopher looked at the cold-faced Cecilia and asked softly, “Ceci, do you think I will still cooperate with Yancey Corporation?”

Then Christopher raised his eyebrows at Jonathan and said, “Mr. Yancey, you always have to pay for what you’ve done. I hope you can learn from the lesson.”
After saying that, Christopher left with Cecilia in his arms.

When he noticed everyone else was looking at him, Jonathan quickly softened his malicious expression and regained his gentle demeanor.
“Mr. Longbottom, how-”
Before Jonathan could finish his greeting, Mr. Longbottom said, “Excuse me, Mr. Yancey. My wife is calling me. Let’s talk next time.”
Looking at Mrs. Longbottom standing beside Mr. Longbottom, Jonathan was rendered speechless. “What a lame excuse!” he thought.
As he considered that, he immediately changed his target and aimed at merchants from other areas, hoping to secure some projects for Yancey Corporation. He believed money had influence and power.
Unfortunately, before he could open his mouth, everyone kept- away from him as if he were a jinx.

Jonathan’s behavior of slandering his biological sister was too low. Whoever collaborated with him might be backstabbed in the future.

At eight o’clock, the auction started.
Everyone took their seats in the auction hall. Christopher and Cecilia were seated in the first row.

The Yancey family was prominent in Quilton. Therefore, Jonathan was seated in the second row, but his seat was at the far end.
He took a glimpse at the dazzling Cecilia and felt lost about the drastic difference between them.
“She is just a country bumpkin. How did she suddenly get ahead of me? It’s because of Christopher! She is nothing if she hasn’t h***ed up with him!” As he thought about that, he felt much more relieved.
The host went on the stage. After he explained the auction. rules in detail, he said, “Tonight, there is an uncommon, mysterious auction item. It will be a giveaway for anyone who wins it. If anyone recognizes the item’s value, don’t miss it.”
That mysterious auction item had piqued the interest of many people.
“When will that item be auctioned? You’re not going to keep it until the end, are you?” someone asked.
“It depends on your luck. Let’s play a game,” said the host as he motioned for someone to bring over a carton.
In the carton were some small balls containing the auction items’ serial numbers.
“I will randomly draw a ball, and the mysterious item will be auctioned before the serial number in this ball.”
After saying that, the host drew a ball. With all eyes on him, he opened the ball, took the note inside, and unfolded it.
The number was 15. There were 33 auction items that evening, and the number was in the middle. It was a good position.
If it were too early, the atmosphere of the auction wouldn’t have heated up yet. But if it were too late, those interested in buying the herb plantation might have insufficient funds left because they already bought other items before that.

Christopher was the one who told Matthias to change the numbers in all the balls to 15. The best position was naturally reserved for the person he cared about most.
Cecilia did not like it when Christopher was being intimate with her. She glared at him and stopped him from touching her. She already owed him favors and did not want to owe him other sentiments.
Christopher withdrew his hand. He leaned closer to Cecilia and said, “If there is anything you like, I’ll buy it for you.” As he said that, he handed the auction catalog to her.
Cecilia had not read the catalog. She reached out for it and browsed through it casually. In the catalog, there were photos of the auction items and a brief introduction, but no pricing. However, she knew that those auction items’ prices were sky-high. For example, there was a small private island with a big area valued at least 4 billion dollars.
