I said to Chloe and Steven, "Unfortunately, I've cleared up all grievances over money. You should come up with a new excuse and let Zane know. We'll see if he will abandon me over that."
Chloe knew that Zane was rich and that he wouldn't place much importance on money. There was no need for her to dwell on the same issue. With that in mind, Chloe felt more confident.
Chloe said proudly, "Regarding money, even if Annalise was in the right, she is still to be blamed for disrespecting her elders!
"As the daughter-in-law of the Pelham family, she should respect her mother-in-law. But what did she do? She doesn't flatter me or serve me, and she doesn't visit my house!"
Steven didn't want to see Chloe anymore. Chloe did not realize every word revealed her own character.
He had also finally realized how childish Chloe had been to pick on Annalise in the past. It was easy to see through her tricks.
I asked Chloe, "But didn't you ask me to do that? Why are you shifting the blame to me?"
"Did I ask you to do that? When did I ever say that? Don't you dare falsely accuse me!"
Chloe couldn't recall if she ever said anything like that.
In response, I said, "In the first few visits I made to your home with Steven, you said you hated seeing me, and you told me to stop going over.
"Later, you turned your home into a dating spot for Steven and Jessica. Then, you allowed Steven and Zachary to meet Jessica at your place. Don't you remember that?"
When Chloe heard that, she finally remembered what happened. She didn't know what to say.
