Steven asked coldly, "Do you know what a vasectomy is, Mom? It means I could never sire children again."

Chloe pointed out slowly, "But if you don't get a vasectomy, Jessica will get an abortion…"

This alone told Steven what he needed to know. Jessica had turned to Chloe after she failed to blackmail him into getting a vasectomy.

Displeased as he was, he didn't let it show. A frigid look flashed in his eyes as he asked through gritted teeth, "You spoke with Jessica, didn't you?"

Chloe bristled at his disgruntled tone. "Don't change the subject! We're in the middle of a serious conversation here, Steven."

He snapped, "She called me a while ago and tried to convince me to get a vasectomy! I refused, but I didn't think she'd come to you and brainwash you into agreeing with her!"

Chloe countered anxiously, "Did you think I wanted to agree to this? As things are, Annalise won't get back together with you, let alone have your children.

"If Jessica gets an abortion, Zachary will be my only grandchild, and you know the boy cut ties with me because of you! Are you so heartless that you'd let me grow old alone while others my age are surrounded by grandkids?"

Upon hearing this, Steven scoffed to himself and enunciated his reply, "Yes."

This rendered Chloe speechless, but she got over the shock and said, "I have you to take care of me in my old age, so at least I'm not all alone. But what about you, Steven? Zachary might be young now, but he'll grow up one day.

"Given how you walked out on him, he isn't obligated to look after you in your old age. What will you do then? I'm looking out for your best interests here. Did you think I'd push you into getting a vasectomy if I had any other choice?"
