Now that Mr. Webb's company was on the verge of closing down, he spoke more politely with me. However, he could not hide his arrogance.

If I returned to work with him, by the time his company recovers, he may think of ways to kick me out of the company again. I could see through his plans.

I asked, "Should I be more direct? Mr. Webb, I have a new job, and I have no plans to work for you again."

Billy asked in disbelief, "How is that possible? You left our team not too long ago, and you barely have any working experience.

"Your current boss must be an idiot to be willing to hire you. Or could it be that you joined a small company?"

Those were Mr. Webb's true thoughts. He looked down on me, convinced that nobody but him would hire me.

I said nonchalantly, "If Huxham Corporation can be considered as a small company, then yes."

Mr. Webb sneered and said, "Everyone knows Huxham Corporation has high standards for hiring. Why would they even hire you?"

It was clear that Mr. Webb looked down on me, but I didn't let it bother me. When he was my boss, he had said worse things. I knew his true colors would show, but I hadn't expected his disguise to fail so soon.

I smiled and said calmly, "Maybe it's because Huxham Corporation doesn't place as many restrictions as you do that they continue to thrive."

Upon hearing that, Mr. Webb became furious and snarled, "So what if you got accepted? You won't last long. I'm sure you'll get fired!"

"Even if Huxham Corporation fires me, I won't work for you again. After all, nobody likes a cold-hearted boss," I said firmly.

In response, Mr. Webb sneered and said, "Don't come back, then. Our company won't close down just because you're not around!"
