The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 2669

"Of course, I'm really nervous, but more than that, I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to converse and learn from the industry veterans," Ivy said.

"Your answers were watertight, Ivy. Clearly, you came prepared today," the host teased.

"But I've noticed that most of the actresses here tonight have brought dates. Didn't you think of bringing a plus-one?"

Ivy found the question odd. What did having a date have to do with anything? Weren't they all here with their show's crew?

"Actually, I did have one, but it seems you've separated us," Ivy replied with a playful smirk, noticing the host eyeing someone behind her. Perhaps she was taking up too much time, but the host showed no sign of taking the mic.

"Well, my apologies for splitting you up from the crew, Ivy. How about I make it up to you by giving you a date?" the host began.

At that moment, a wave of screams nearly lifted the roof off the building. Confused, Ivy followed the host's gaze and turned to see Balfour, a smile dancing on his lips, striding toward her with a purposeful gait.

Shock registered on Ivy's face, but the unstoppable grin that followed was a dead giveaway of her true feelings. All her prepped nerves about the right answers dissipated the moment she laid eyes on him.

She instinctively moved toward him, but Balfour, not wanting her to exert herself, closed the distance with a few large steps and was suddenly right in front of her.

"Why are you here?" she asked, her voice a mix of surprise and delight.

Their eyes locked, brimming with affection so obvious that even a blind man could sense the love between them.

"Yeah, what's a business muckety-muck like me doing at your glitzy entertainment affair?" Balfour whispered into her ear, mindful of the many fans and the forest of cameras broadcasting live, allowing only for a fleeting exchange.
