The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 2602

Elton stepped forward, volunteering to be the one to deliver the ransom.

Mara instantly objected, "Dad, you can't possibly go. What if those kidnappers snatch you up too? You don’t know how to defend yourself. It's way too risky, and I won't allow it."

Alyssa hesitated before adding, "Mr. Lewis, we understand your desperation to save your daughter, but this is an extremely dangerous undertaking. If something goes wrong..."

Captain Aidan nodded in agreement, "Their concerns are valid, Mr. Lewis. You should stay back and keep watch. Let our officers handle the exchange. We'll make sure the ransom is delivered to the specified drop."

But Elton was resolute, "This isn't a rash decision. Those kidnappers already warned us not to involve the police, and we've crossed that line by bringing them in. Plus, delivering the money could give us a chance to engage with them, which might help our rescue efforts. Imagine their fury if they find out a police showed up with the money. Our kids will pay the price! I know it's dangerous, but if it can help get them out safely, I'm willing to take the risk."

Mara clutched her father's arm tightly. "No matter how many reasons you give, I won't agree to let you go! Dad, not only is Victoria your daughter, but I'm your daughter too. Did you even consider how I feel? What will I do if something happens to you?"

Mara was truly heartbroken. She had always known she wasn't as charming as her sister Victoria, but even now, she couldn't bear to risk her father's life. She knew that an accident could mean losing him forever. Even if he didn't love her as much, she couldn't let go.

Elton hugged Mara close and said, "I know you're worried, but both of you are my daughters. How can I do nothing when Victoria is in such danger? If you were in her place, I'd be just as determined to do whatever it takes. Do you understand, my child?"
