The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 2497

Ivy set her bowl down. She actually wanted to give a serious answer this time.

"Truth is, no one can really be sure who they're gonna walk hand in hand with forever."

Balfour pricked up his ears quietly, listening intently to Ivy's words.

Hearing her say that wasn't a shock to him. For Ivy, emotional reliance was always shaky ground.

She never felt that sense of security from her biological parents; if she couldn't count on them, what more from Balfour, whom she had only known from a stranger to a lover?

He wasn't hurt, just felt the need to give Ivy more love, and to help her slowly build that feeling of safety.

"Mr. Howard, do you feel the same way?" asked Olivia, genuinely surprised. She thought that lovebirds like Balfour and Ivy wouldn't say such melancholic things.

"I don't believe in forever, but I do know that I want to walk with her, the longer the better."

Their eyes met, and Ivy blinked, "You're not mad at me, are you?"

"What's there to be mad about?"

They understood each other without words. Ivy knew he got her, and that was enough.

"I just want you to be happy."

Why worry about forever? There was no need to think so far ahead. They just needed to hold hands and make the most of each step now.

Mara, seizing the moment when they were distracted, sneaked into Balfour and Ivy's bedroom.

Balfour was a fan of minimalism. In the Howard Mansion, his room was a stark mix of black, white, and gray.
