The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 2319

"Ouch!" Ivy couldn't help but cry out as the doctor's hand neared the swollen area.

The doctor, on the other hand, seemed relieved as if a weight had been lifted, "Looks like it's just a sprain, no pain in the surrounding areas. Still, let's get an X-ray to be sure. But you'll need to take it easy for the next few days, no putting weight on it, alright? Mr. Howard, you must make sure your wife doesn't use that leg, okay?"

Balfour nodded solemnly, his face etched with concern. He would do everything in his power to prevent Ivy's injury from getting worse.

Relief washed over Ivy when the doctor confirmed it wasn't a fracture.

Resting at home for a few days beat being laid up for months.

After the X-ray, Balfour went to get her prescription. It was then that Mara arrived, carried in by Mark who seemed to be having the worst luck.

Mark felt like he was lugging around a sack of potatoes, with Mara not cooperating at all. She lay across his back lifeless, as if she were a zombie.

If he hadn't been holding her arms tightly, she probably would have tumbled to the ground. Didn't she realize she could hurt herself even more? Her leg was already injured, and he was wary of touching it – after all, she was a woman he didn't know, and it was important to maintain a certain distance.

But Mara had her reasons. She almost wished she would fall and actually twist her ankle. If she showed up at the hospital without a scratch, wouldn't her ruse be exposed?

As long as the only person she had to deceive was Balfour, she could probably get away with it, provided those two old biddies didn't follow them.

Mara's worries were premature; as she was taken to see the doctor, Balfour wasn't there. He was busy picking up Ivy's medicine.
