Diana's words were anything but polite, and they were clearly getting under Corben's skin.
She really saw herself as a big shot, but she was just a small-time actress.
"Corben, how can you abandon me at a time like this?
When we signed the deal, you said I could bring in so much profit for the company and create so much value. My fan base has grown massively. Can't you see that? You can't do this to me!"
Corben leaned in closer to Diana. "Of course, I can do this to you. You're just one of the many actors under my management. Sure, your fan growth is quick for a newcomer, but have you given a thought about Ivy? You're not even in the same league as her. You're from the same batch of new actors, and when compared with Ivy, your progress doesn't count for much.
And what about all the trouble you've stirred up? Once your fans find out, don't you think they'll unfollow you in droves? Don't fool yourself into thinking they'll be loyal to you forever."
Corben dusted off his jacket, no longer wanting to engage with this madwoman.
He turned to leave, and Diana was left clinging to the railing, reaching out and calling after him, "Corben, you can't leave! Come back! You can't give up on me!"
"That Ivy, what's she got that I don't? I can surpass her easily. You'll regret dropping me, Corben, you'll see!"
But Corben did not look back.
Diana flailed about for a while until only her echo answered her, then she slowly collapsed.
She could not believe that Ivy had completely ruined her bright future!
