"Shouldn't we be getting a better deal?"
Tenfold?
The ears of several associates perked up at the mention of the number. A million? That figure was far more enticing than the peanuts Clara had offered them.
Raven flicked the ash from his cigarette and scoffed, "My boys here may be green, but they're not stupid. You think you can play me? Do you even have that kind of cash? You're just the flavor of the month, sweetheart, and I bet your movie paycheck hasn't even cleared. Don't play the tycoon if your pockets are empty!"
Ivy realized then that Raven was the linchpin of this motley crew.
She turned her full attention to Raven, "Boss, I might not have more, but I do have a million! How much should I wire you right now? Just let me go and bring in the one who's pulling your strings!"
Determination filled her eyes.
"Boss, she sounds legit. If she's got the dough, we could live it up for a while with that cool million!"
The buzz-cut man was visibly excited, Ivy's offer dangling before him like a juicy steak too tempting to resist.
After a moment of thought, Raven said, "Alright, if you say your account's that fat, let's skip the chatter. Transfer the money, and we'll take your word for it."
Ivy nodded eagerly. "Done."
The buzz-cut man's eyes sparkled at the prospect of cash, and he was already rubbing his hands together in anticipation.
Raven gestured with a tilt of his chin, "Give her the phone."
