The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 2053

Alyssa's words were like a soothing balm to Giselle, who quickly plastered on a smile and said, "Uh... I'm truly honored that you'd invite me over for dinner. But as the younger generation, having you cook for me feels a bit embarrassing. Perhaps I could lend a hand?"

With that, Giselle set her purse aside, ready to follow Alyssa into the kitchen to help prepare the evening meal.

Alyssa, however, extended her hand in a leisurely gesture, signaling for Giselle to stop. "No need, dear. You're a guest, and having you work wouldn't be proper. Besides, we have a tradition in the Howard household: not just anyone can enter the kitchen."

She paused, a solemn smile gracing her lips. "The Howard family kitchen is solely reserved for the lady of the house and the household staff."

Giselle's face stiffened, finally grasping the purpose behind Alyssa's invitation.

This was Alyssa's way of putting her in her place, reminding her of where she stood.

"Alright, let's get some coffee for Giselle! I must go and prepare dinner for our guests."

With those words, Alyssa rose and made her way to the kitchen.

A servant stepped forward. "Please, have a seat, Giselle. Would you care to try some of our special tea?"

Now, Giselle's complexion was far from pleasant. Every word from Alyssa and the Howard servants was a stark reminder that she was merely a guest in the Howard family.

Gritting her teeth silently, she followed the servant and sat in the living room.

No matter. She had time on her side.

Once she pushed Ivy out and successfully married Balfour, becoming the true Mrs. Howard, everyone would see who the real lady of the house was.
