The receptionist, seeing the commotion, quickly stepped in, "Madam, you can't just barge in here."
Tessa, red-faced with anger, pushed past the receptionist, attempting to storm through the turnstile, but it wouldn't budge.
The receptionist, unable to stop her, called out loudly for security.
Two guards approached one on either side and hoisted Tessa up, ready to escort her out of the building.
Struggling in vain, Tessa saw she was about to be thrown out and shouted, "I'm Ivy's mother. My daughter Ivy has connections with your CEO. If you toss me out like this, the CEO won't let you off the hook."
As fate would have it, Nolan was just returning to the office.
He had planned to ignore the ruckus in the lobby, but when he heard the woman claim to be Ivy's mother, Nolan couldn't help but stop.
"Let her go," Nolan approached with a hint of a smile, "Madam, did you just say you're Ivy's mother?"
Tessa rubbed her sore arm and sized up the man before her, "Yes, I'm Ivy's mother. And who might you be?"
"I'm the CEO of Harris Group, the very person you're looking for."
Hearing that the man before her was the CEO of Harris Group, Tessa's face performed an extraordinary volte-face, plastering on a smile, "Mr. Harris, it's you. I'm Ivy's mother, and I came to inquire about Ivy's well-being."
Though Nolan wasn't quite sure why Tessa came to him about Ivy, he courteously led her to his office out of respect for her being Ivy's mother.
