The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 1778

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Tracy sprung into action. "Sheila, darling, I'm on my way home! Until I get there, you mustn't let your father see those two women, understood?"

Sheila nodded firmly. "Mom, don't worry. I've got this."

After ending the call with her mother, Sheila called her father.

Arnold was out fishing. He finally got a nibble when his phone buzzed and scared the fish away.

He answered, but was clearly irritated. "What the hell do you want? You scared the fish away!"

Sheila was jobless and reliant on her father's support. She had lost her previous standing and was more deferential. "Dad, I'm just checking in on you. When will you be home?"

Arnold grumbled. "I was planning to fish a little longer, but your call ruined my mood, so I'm heading back now. Tell your mom I'm hungry; I want some pot roast."

After hearing that her father was coming home, Sheila panicked. "Uh… Dad, the weather is so nice; why don't you fish a little longer? Mom is out, and she hasn't come back yet. There's no one to make the pot roast."

She couldn't let her father come home now. He'd run into those two women.

Arnold scoffed. "What's that woman off doing now? Can't you cook? All you do is sit at home and live off of me. Can't you at least learn to cook?! What am I raising you for?!"
