She'd just returned from the hospital to the solitude of her office when this annoying kid showed up again.
She'd never met a man this clingy before.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the hospital with your father?"
Byran shrugged. "Dad's doing better. You wouldn't believe how well he was doing. Since my sister visited him this morning, he's been like a different person. He's not only taking his medicine, but he's also eating on his own, saying he wants to get out of the hospital and make it up to his daughter. So, naturally, I've got nothing to worry about."
Ida frowned after hearing Byran mention his sister. She knew he was referring to Ellinor.
But she wondered if he still remembered his other sister, the one who wasn't as pleasant.
"What are you staring at me for, Ida? Are you unhappy to see me?" Byran pouted.
Ida gave him a disdainful look. "Well, you're just in time. I've got something to ask you."
Byran's eyes sparkled. "What is it, Ida? Whatever you ask, I'll tell you everything."
Ida was serious. She was not in the mood for his jokes. "I want to know when your sister was released. Do you know anything about it?"
Byran was puzzled. "My sister? Released from where? Didn't you see my sister this morning at the hospital? What's this all about?"
Ida scowled. "I'm not asking about Ellinor. I'm asking about your real sister, Patricia. She's out. Did you know that?"
Byran looked surprised. "What? Patricia is out? When did this happen?"
