"Is it locked?" Dr. Tam walked over and gave the door a try. Sure enough, it was locked.
"That's strange." He muttered. "This storage closet is never locked. We usually just pile all our junk in here. Who would've locked it?"
Sophia was more certain than ever that she hadn't been mistaken. Someone had been eavesdropping on her conversation with Dr. Tam and had darted into the storage closet when they'd emerged.
"Dr. Tam," she said, "I'll stay here while you get the key. We need to make sure there's no one in there."
Dr. Tam thought it was odd that the closet was locked, but he didn't think anyone was hiding inside. Perhaps one of the nurses had locked it after dumping some useless stuff in there. Still, seeing Sophia's concern, he agreed to fetch the key.
Sophia stood guard at the door with her arms folded and her eyes glued to the closet. She was determined not to let anyone slip away this time.
Meanwhile, inside the closet.
"What do we do now?" Ida asked Byran in a hushed whisper.
Byran shrugged. "What can we do? There's no place to hide in here. I'm too big to go unnoticed. Rather than wait for Sophia to discover us, we should confront her directly. We need to know what she and the doctor were talking about."
As he spoke, Byran moved towards the door, ready to confront Sophia head-on.
