"Dad, but I..."

Thaddeus didn't want to keep talking about this past event with his daughter. He waved his hand to interrupt her. "Enough! I just want you two to stop quarreling. You two are my only daughters; I don’t want to see any discord between you two."

Sophia reluctantly nodded. "Alright. I understand how you feel, Dad. I won’t be mad at my sister anymore, and I'll try to get along with her."

Thaddeus patted Sophia's shoulder with relief. "That's my girl!"

Sophia suppressed her resentment. She thought to herself that once she successfully inherited all her father's wealth, she would settle the scores with her stepmother and sister.

By the time they reached the hotel, it was already over an hour later.

Thaddeus checked into the same hotel as his daughter Sophia. After ordering his men to take care of their luggage, he went with his wife and younger daughter to Sophia's suite to see his son-in-law.

When Marcus saw Thaddeus, he was calm and nodded slightly. "Father, welcome."

Thaddeus snorted disapprovingly with his hands behind his back. "So you remember I'm your father? You didn't even go to the airport with Sophia to pick us up!"

"I apologize. I wasn't feeling well. Please forgive me, Father."

Thaddeus looked at his son-in-law's legs, which were in a wheelchair, and grew more annoyed.

Sophia didn't want her father to blame Marcus. She tugged at her father's arm and then walked over to her man.

As she got closer, she noticed that Marcus's forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat.

"Marcus, why are you sweating so much?"
