"Hey, what brings you here?" Cordelia asked, clearly surprised to see Eason lugging a duffel bag.
To be honest, transitioning from their once close, tell-each-other-everything relationship to this awkward, almost sibling-like connection with Eason was still something Cordelia found unsettling and a bit uncomfortable.
"I wanted to check on her. And you too, and..." Eason's eyes darted to Ronan, "see my brother-in-law." He quickly looked down after that.
"Oh, right, we're family now," Ronan joked with a chuckle.
It suddenly clicked for Cordelia that the "her" Eason mentioned had to be Alana. After all, Alana was his birth mother.
"Sure thing," Cordelia said. "I'll have Janice set up a room for you. Go freshen up with a shower."
Janice led Eason to his room, with the kids trailing behind. Eason had brought some goodies for them but wasn't sure who the other child was. It felt awkward to ask with Callum around.
Just as the house was settling into a rare moment of peace, another visitor showed up—Thomas.
Thomas hadn't been to the Evans' place in ages and always seemed to show up looking for a favor from Ronan.
"Mr. Evans," Thomas said as he sat down on the couch across from Ronan.
"What do you need?" Ronan’s tone was cold and unwelcoming.
"Well, I heard from Marian that you have two kids now, one of them adopted. I was wondering if you might consider letting the Colby family adopt the adopted one?" Thomas asked, almost pleading.
