In just two months, Anya breezed through all her exams and, with Leo by her side, proudly snagged her driver's license.
That same day, Leo tossed his car keys to her with a grin. “Ms. Anya, hop in the driver’s seat. Let me enjoy being the passenger for a change.”
Standing by the car, Anya whispered to herself, “Brake, gear shift… wait, this isn’t right. Chad, wrong gear!”
Leo couldn’t resist a playful jab, “Want me to break the automatic so you can practice on a stick shift? Just kidding, seatbelt first, silly!”
Leo leaned over, brushing close to Anya, and clicked her seatbelt in place. “Alright, keep going.”
Every time Leo leaned in, Anya’s heart did a little dance. Buckling up, she went through the driving routine, “Signal on, horn, and gently ease off the brake.”
Leo just shook his head with a smile.
On her first attempt, Anya drove for just five minutes. At a busy intersection, the traffic had her pulling over, too nervous to continue.
Leo sighed, “Well, that was five minutes of being chauffeured. Looks like I’m stuck as the driver.”
Later that night, Leo slapped a “Learner” sticker on the car’s rear and mirror.
Anya just pursed her lips, saying nothing.
Leo playfully tapped her nose. “Guess who those are for?”
Before the school term started, Anya took her new license back to Willowtown to visit her family for a few days.
The day before classes began, Leo arrived to pick her up, exuding the vibe of a husband fetching his wife from her parents'.
