Anya strolled back into the living room, finding it just as bustling and cozy as ever, with her family gathered around. Every evening when Bruce came home from work, he made sure to scoop up his two little ones in a big bear hug.
“Hey Grandpa, Uncle, Aunt, everyone!” Anya called out, rattling off greetings like a pro, before scooping up her cherished older kid and dashing over to fuss over her favorite little one.
“Anya, did Leo give you a tough time? Is that why you’re here in the middle of the night?” Naomi asked, half-concerned.
Anya suddenly remembered the real reason she was there. “Oh, no, not at all. I’m here to see Uncle Andre.”
Andre raised an eyebrow. Him?
Mia, intrigued, glanced at her husband. Anya was usually so shy, barely speaking to him unless she was there. What on earth would bring her niece over at this hour? It had to be about Leo!
Andre seemed to catch on and stood up, “Let’s go chat in the study.”
Anya gently set Henry down and followed him upstairs.
As Mia turned around, her eyes met her sister’s. Molly’s eyes twinkled with mischief, prompting Mia to raise an eyebrow in return.
Shortly after, Mia decided to follow them.
“Looks like Mia’s up to her old tricks again,” Hansen chuckled. Molly just nodded with a knowing smile.
In the study, Anya handed over a piece of paper. “Uncle, Chad said you’d get it once you see this. He also mentioned that the new guy at work, Greg, is trouble.”
Eavesdropping, Mia frowned. Who even says “trouble” like that anymore?
Andre immediately knew what his nephew was hinting at—someone from the Dark Web. He glanced at the code, recognizing it as an attack targeting the Cedillo Group’s online assets.
“I get it. Head back home, and drive safely, alright?”
“Okay, thanks, Uncle. I’m off then.”
As she opened the door, Anya came face to face with her aunt.
Mia quickly stood up, and Andre noticed his nosy wife at the doorway, “Come on in.”
