Not long after, he showed up, juggling a bag brimming with snacks.
Jerry nudged Kathy, bubbling with excitement, his voice barely above a whisper, “It’s him, it’s him!”
Leo sensed someone’s eyes on him, a gaze lurking in the shadows. He spun around but saw nothing. With his senses on high alert, he turned back and made his way toward the door.
Kathy managed to catch a glimpse of Leo’s face just as he turned. Once he was inside, she and Jerry stepped out. “Wow, Jerry, now I get why you were so adamant about signing him. Don’t worry, I’ve got your back.”
Back in the dining room, Leo found everyone waiting around. “Tony, how’s it looking?”
Tony shrugged, “Still waiting for the results.”
Leo nodded, dropped the snacks off in his room, and then came back to throw some oddball questions at Tony. “Are you aiming to sign up as a star just for singing and dancing, or are you looking at acting gigs too?”
...
Later that night, Leo got a call from a buddy. “Hey Tony, all set?”
Leo was thrilled.
“When’s the contract signing? Shoot it over for me to check out. I’m only in for 3 years, and after that, we’ll need to renegotiate.”
On the other end, Tony said, “Gotcha. Sending the contract now. By the way, Leo, LeePaige is interested in your security system. They’re offering 500k after taxes.”
“Not selling, just a 3-year deal,” Leo said firmly. “I need access to their resources.”
