They had never neglected Jane in terms of basic needs, such as food or clothes. But whenever her parents looked at the four pairs of twins, they had always called them 'babies' and told them how beautiful and good-looking they were. However, when they looked at Jane, it was almost as though they were looking at a stranger. She never received a word of compliment from them. Sometimes, Jane would cling onto her father's feet and look up at the man with hope, hoping that he would pick her up, carry her in his arms and kiss her. But her father had only responded impatiently with, "Go play on your own!" 1
Jane would often hide at the corner by herself and watch her siblings. Every one of them had a partner who wore the same clothes as one another. They were all beautiful and cheerful, asking for attention from their parents whenever they felt like it. Jane couldn't b e more envious. Night after night, she would cry until her pillow was soaked in tears. In order to earn her parents' love, Jane was outstanding at both home and school. She was an excellent student in school with remarkable academic achievements, while at home, she would jump at any opportunity to help her parents with the chores, lifting the whole crate of fruits all on her own despite her young age. Whenever her parents got tired, she would bring them small chairs to sit on s o that she could massage their legs or shoulders for them. All of it to be loved, even in the slightest.
However, no matter how hard she worked, they never s o much as looked her way. Most of the time, her parents would rather ignore her.

As time went by, not only did her parents ignore her, her siblings began to bully her as well. Though the Sheen Family was a middleclass family, raising nine children meant that there was a tremendous expense. On top of that, their fruitselling business was hindered by the introduction of online shopping, delivery service and chain stores, and began to fail. It was increasingly difficult to maintain business, and they were almost surviving on their savings every year. It was starting to become a challenge to raise their children despite the fact that they owned two properties and had savings of approximately eight million. Therefore, the fruits and snacks were shared in proportion to their children, with the oldest being sixteen and the youngest eight a t the time. Jane's portion would always end up taken b y her siblings. As a result, Jane who was the fifth child had the weight equivalent to her youngest sister and a few centimeters shorter in comparison to her youngest brother. She became more and more of a loner because of the sense of inferiority. She didn't have any friends to hang out with after school and in the end, the clothes she was wearing were ones that not even the youngest brother could fit into. 1
