Sebastian put the piggy bank aside and asked with concern, "What's the matter? Do you need money? Is the allowance that your mom and I give you not enough? Why do you want to open up your piggy bank? Once you open up this piggy bank, you can't close it up anymore."
Sebastian still remembered that this piggy bank of Aino’s was what Minerva brought back for her when Minerva came back to the country the first year she went abroad to study. The person Aino admired the most since she was a child was her Miss Minerva. How could she bear to break the piggy bank that Minerva gave her?
Aino nodded seriously. "Well, no need. I just want to take the money out." "Tell me, what are you going to use the money for after you've taken it out?" Sebastian asked.
"A girl in my class has...leukemia. Her family had already spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on her treatment. They're out of money. I was thinking of giving her some money," Aino said to her father honestly.
"How much do you want to give to her?" Sebastian asked.
"I have almost ten thousand dollars in my piggy bank. I'll give it all to her," Aino said very generously.
"Silly girl! Why do you want to take the money out of your piggy bank? I can give you the money. You can even donate twenty thousand dollars to her. You're helping your classmate, so I'll support you." Aino shook her head again. "Dad, I'm already sixteen now. I already know that it's hard for anybody to make money in this world. That's how it is for my mom. It's the same for you as well. It's a good thing to be kind and donate money to other people, but I also have to do it within my limit. I can't take money that doesn't belong to me to do things that are out of my ability. That's not right."
Sebastian felt a sense of shock when he heard Aino saying that. He had always been taking his child for someone who was not sensible. However, he never expected that Aino was already so mature and reliable when considering a problem. Sebastian could not help but feel proud.
He immediately hugged his daughter. "My daughter is my pride!" "Come. I'll open up your piggy bank for you. We've broken the piggy bank that Miss Minerva gave you, so let's invite her to have a meal at our house this weekend. It's been a long time since she last came over," said Sebastian.
