However, no matter how much money the glass was worth, Eira could never afford it. She originally just wanted to sneak in to steal some money before returning home, so that she could buy medication for her mother. That way, her brother would not need to work so hard. However, she never expected that things would suddenly turn out this way. She just knew she could not let Brooke go and tell their father. She could not go to the police station. She was already ten years old. She knew what kind of place a police station was. Only people who had done bad things would be taken to the police station. However, she did not and had not done any bad things. She also did not break that glass on purpose. While thinking about that, Eira chased after Brooke and she caught up to Brooke at the stairs.
At that moment, Eira had no time to be afraid anymore. She reached out her hand and pulled Brooke. "Miss Stevens, I didn't do it on purpose. I really didn't do it on purpose. I was scalded and I didn't hold the glass properly, so I accidentally broke i t. I'm begging you, don’t tell Mister Stevens and Missus Stevens, alright? I'm begging you."
When the words Missus Stevens came out of Eira's mouth, Eira felt her whole heart was bleeding. She clearly knew that her mother was Missus Stevens, and it was Brooke's mother who snatched her father away and stole her mother's position!
Brooke looked at Lira's outstretched hand, which was badly scalded, and violently pinched her wound. Brooke did not care that Lira was crying in pain. She just said viciously, "So what if your hands were badly scalded? Even if your entire body is badly scalded, it's still not enough to pay for my glass! Little beggar, you just wait for it. I certainly will tell my dad. I certainly will have him send you to the police station, and I'll let your parents see how disgusting you are. You are a naughty child!"
While Brooke said that, she turned around and was prepared to go downstairs. However, she was too emotional, so when she turned around, she lost her footing and almost fell down. Eira saw that, so she hurriedly reached her hand out to pull her. Just when Eira was about to pull her back up, she heard Brooke angrily said, "Stinking beggar, it's all because of you that I have sprained my leg! Quickly pulled me up.
Just wait and see!"
