Never had Alex imagined that a fragile woman who had only ever said 'Yes' or 'Yes, Alex" in front of him; who only said 'I'll leave' with a smile on the day h e chased her out, could be so logical and good at defending her case. Her mind was clear and organized, with no resemblance of the woman that had been by his side for the past seven to eight years. On top of that, Alex realized that everything she said was true.
"'That's right! I blamed her for finding someone else after four months away from me, but how did I manage to forget that I was the one who chased her out without any hesitation? Have I thought about where she was going to stay? Or that she could tell the directions? Or how helpless she would feel when I tossed her out hurriedly without even giving her identification card? I haven't, because I've always thought that her love to me was natural and when I showed her even the slightest adoration, that's supposed to be some sort of a gift,' he thought with a frown, as he stared wordlessly at the woman sprawled across the ground.
Jane's tears continued to fall and her hair flew and became entangled in the wind. Her face had only grown paler by the second and all color had been drained from her lips. Her doe-like eyes shivered in the tears that gathered in her eyes, making her look as
enduring as ever. Apart from that, her pregnant belly had been exposed entirely from the tear of her top just now when two of the buttons fell. By kneeling on the ground, her legs were just in the right place to support her belly, but at the same time, it made her look even more pitiful and fragile than ever.
Alex's gaze trailed down to the old cotton pants she was wearing and felt as though there was a knife slicing pieces of his heart, one bit after another, and the pain was worse than death.
