In the grand and luxurious hotel, Noah was standing inside, looking happy and healthy. Meanwhile, his mother stood crouched outside. Due to her many years of hard work, she could barely straighten her waist now. Just like that, she supported herself on the stairs outside the hotel, looking in with eyes full of longing and happiness.
At that moment, Noah felt as if knives were slicing through his heart. He suddenly felt, it was not as easy as it seemed. Marrying into a rich family was not as easy as it seemed. The disdain and disregard they had for him was deeply ingrained in their bones. It could not be changed. Even though he was now being admired by many, deep down, he was in so much more pain and suffering compared to when he was still a poor young man.
The second he saw his mother, she gave him an incredibly warm and comforting smile, then turned to leave. His mother was already very, very, happy. She had heard the stories of many well-educated young men who abandoned their poor parents once they got married in the big city. But her son had called her personally. He had no choice but to do so because he did not want to hurt his wife. The old lady was already content.
The last half of the wedding was torture for Noah. He did not know how he made it through. Whether it was
the toast or any other portions of the wedding, he remained absent-minded as ever. Of course his wife would notice such an obvious change in his behavior.
After the wedding, she exploded. "Noah Hill! What happened to you! You caused trouble during my wedding. You think you’re so strong and powerful, don't you!"
Even the son that his wife gave birth to with her exboyfriend, he had already addressed him as ’Daddy’ but right now, the nearly three-year-old boy stuck a hand on his waist and roared at Noah in anger, "Noah Hill! If you're not willing to become my Mom’s husband, then you can't be my Daddy too. Get out right now!" 1
