Imogen was overwhelmed with emotion, tears blending with laughter as she nodded. "I believe you."
Archie lifted her hand and kissed it gently.
The atmosphere in the room immediately grew warmer.
Being reunited after so long, the two couldn't help but cling to each other, indulging in their affection.
Just as Archie leaned closer, ready to take things further, Imogen pushed him away, her face flushing with embarrassment. "No, we can't. I just had the baby not long ago. I'm still in my recovery period…"
Archie paused as if realizing this for the first time. He chuckled. "Look at me, getting carried away like that. It's my bad. You just lie down and rest. Are you hungry? Should I get you something to eat?"
Imogen shook her head, her face reddening even more. "I'm not hungry. Archie, can you step out for a moment? I need to use the bathroom…"
Since giving birth, she still needed help from the caregivers and the postpartum nurse to handle things like changing pads and cleaning up. It was a routine she had grown used to, but in front of Archie, it felt unbearably awkward and embarrassing.
Archie seemed to sense her discomfort. He chuckled softly and kissed her forehead. "I'll help. I'm your husband. What's there to be embarrassed about?"
Although their wedding was called off due to the tragedy of Archie's presumed death, they had done everything a normal wedded couple would have otherwise. They even had a child together.
For Imogen, the ceremony itself no longer mattered. She was content with him being alive and well before her.
When it came to caring for others, Archie was meticulous and gentle, attending to her every need.
Initially, Imogen felt uneasy, but his patient care gradually put her at ease, her face softening with a sweet and blissful smile.
"Archie, you're so nice to me…"
