Morning arrived, and the company’s cocktail party went on as scheduled. Everyone was waiting for Theo to show up.
Tomaz appeared with large dark circles under his eyes, looking disheveled. People around him were visibly put off by his appearance, but Tomaz seemed unfazed.
Ioan approached him, and the contrast was stark. Aside from the difference in the quality of their clothes, Ioan's demeanor and appearance outshone Tomaz completely.
With a knowing smile, Ioan patted Tomaz on the shoulder and said, "Gosh, Tomaz. What happened to you?"
"Nothing," Tomaz replied, pushing Ioan away and giving him a cold, weary stare. His bloodshot eyes made him look extremely tired.
"What were you up to last night? You didn't go out for fun again, did you?"
Tomaz's face began to show signs of anger, his relaxed expression tightening. He turned and walked away without saying anything more.
Nonetheless, Ioan was not ready to let go of this opportunity to mock him. He followed Tomaz and whispered, "Hey, did you know the building next to our company caught on fire last night?"
This statement made Tomaz's previously lifeless eyes widen. He stopped and turned mechanically toward Ioan. "What does that have to do with me?"
Sensing an opportunity, Ioan placed his hand on Tomaz's shoulder again. "Oh, of course, it has nothing to do with you. Even though your personality is unpleasant, I doubt you’d do such a thing."
Tomaz could not tolerate Ioan's sarcasm any longer. He grabbed Ioan's collar tightly and said, "Listen, this has nothing to do with me. And I don't want to hear you buzzing around me like a mosquito anymore. Got it?!"
"Of course."
Tomaz shoved Ioan away and turned to leave.
Ioan adjusted his collar, his playful smile replaced by a sinister glare as he watched Tomaz walk off.
Just then, Tomaz's phone rang. Seeing it was his daughter calling, he went to the restroom to take the call.
"Hello, sweetheart. What's up?"
"Daddy, you're the best. The bag is so pretty."
"I'm glad you like it, sweetheart."
