“Listen to me, child. Do not… continue looking into the Florentine family.”
Clint did not answer. Logic seemed to be part of the Melton family’s identity. No matter how big or small the matter, they would always look at it from a logical viewpoint. However… there were always exceptions.
“There are always exceptions…” Clint had an ugly look on his face as he replied frostily, accidentally revealing his innermost thoughts.
“I… I don’t want to think of anything else… I don’t want to think of anything. At least… I know that a person’s life is about to come to an end… I… I want to save her, Dad.
"As for what sort of emotions I hold… I’m not sure, but this is the first time I've experienced such emotions. If Rainie disappears, I… No, I'll never let her disappear. So, I’m sorry, Dad. Please forgive me.”
Clint made to disconnect the call after he finished his last sentence. However, Reggie suddenly spoke up, “The Florentine family’s residence is in Denford. I’ll send you the address in a bit… It shouldn’t take you more than half an hour by car.”
Clint sincerely thanked him before he hurried to the parking lot and began driving.
…
Reggie leaned back against the couch in the Clint residence and sighed softly after he hung up the phone.
Behind him, an elderly man wearing a long-sleeved shirt chuckled. “So similar. You guys are so alike.”
“What?” Reggie asked.
“He’s exactly how you used to be when you were younger.”
“Hey, you old thing, are you teasing me?” Reggie asked with a grin on his face.
“Of course not. I’m praising you. Your kid has the same brave determination you used to have, and that’s not an easy feat to achieve.”
