The renowned and powerful East Warden was pointing at the Lewis family. To outsiders, this was a golden opportunity, a chance to skyrocket in status.
However, the Lewis family did not respond to Caspian. They did not even glance his way.
Caspian was unfazed. He simply called out, "Members of the Lewis family, would you come up and perform?"
Harrison stood up, placed his hand on his chest in respect, and said, "Thank you for your favor, East Warden, but we of the Lewis family are mere businesspeople without talents to display. We are wholly dedicated to commerce and have no time for other pursuits."
This statement infuriated the other nobles who did not know the Lewis family.
Gage from the Eastern Territory's Garcia family snapped, "The East Warden's invitation for you to perform is a blessing for your family. Don't be ungrateful!"
Others from the Eastern Territory chimed in as well.
"Indeed. Just look at them, they don't seem like a prestigious family."
"Exactly, the warden is giving them respect, but they don't appreciate it."
At this moment, Theo could no longer sit still. He hurriedly stepped in to mediate.
"Everyone, this is the East Warden's birthday banquet. Let's refrain from unpleasant words to maintain the nice atmosphere, shall we?"
Though the nobles from the Eastern Territory did not know the Lewis family, they recognized Theo and the Schmidts. Seeing Theo trying to smooth things over, they reluctantly returned to their seats.
Theo then approached the East Warden.
"I apologize for the offense. It was improper for someone of my lowly status to intervene. Please forgive me."
"It's no problem," Caspian replied calmly.
