I listened quietly, clenching my fists tightly. It was not that I was nervous or uncomfortable. It was just that she reminded me so much of Monique, which sent me into quite a daze.
After a pause, she continued, "I know that you feel like a mess now and you don't know what you should do. But Arianna, we have to move forward one way or another; we can't live in the past forever. What you have to do is to follow your heart. You don't have to keep yourself trapped in your past memories."
I nodded. In my heart, I knew all this.
She grabbed my hands, her expression calm and solemn. "I'm not here today as a lobbyist, but as a friend. I don't want you to suffer. So, Arianna, you don't have to reject me."
I gave her a small smile. "Thank you for coming over and telling me this."
She sighed helplessly, "To be honest, I hated Valerie very much at the start. She's the type of person who buries her dark ambitions deep in her heart. She will do anything and is willing to give anything up to achieve her goals. Such a person is extraordinarily terrifying."
I did not comment but I silently agreed. It was true that everything Valerie did, she had her own agenda behind it.
