When my eyes met Aaron's, he gave me a strange look, and I rolled my eyes at him in return.
Anne had been spoiled by Uncle Trent and the family when she was staying in Ucrebury. She couldn't stay still at all. After getting her pocket money, she asked Charles to go out for a snowball fight. That burly couldn't say no to her at all. So, he relented and brought Anne out into the courtyard to play in the snow together.
We sat in a circle around the sofa in the living room, looking out the huge windows. We watched Charles and Anne having fun together in the snow. In that instant, Charles looked like a child again. They were both laughing happily.
After a while, it was quiet in the living room until Aaron suddenly blurted out some news.
"Have you heard? Sebastian has been discharged," he said.
Upon hearing this news, my good mood instantly dissipated. I felt surprised and confused at the same time.
When Hendrix's lawyer was analyzing the case, I could recall clearly that he mentioned that Sebastian was suspected of intentional injury, unlawful possession of firearms, and hurting first-class protected animals. He would be sentenced for several crimes, which would put him away for at least 15 years. How did he manage to get out of jail unscathed?
Thinking of what had happened in the villa, I suddenly felt a chill go down my spine, and my breathing quickened.
Hendrix reached out and patted my hand gently to comfort me. I raised my head to look at him. I could feel a hint of calmness from his gaze. After that, I took a deep breath and tried to stay calm. I even forced a smile to make him feel assured.
