I was a little puzzled by her words. I glanced at her and said, "I don't know if Hendrix will agree with this. Besides, we're getting older now, and we already have Anne."
She shook her head and uttered, "It's not about age. I'm older than you, yet I can still get pregnant. The Roberts' business is already so well established. Another kid will liven the place up. Then, when you guys are old, they can stay by your side and accompany you. This is what makes old age so exciting."
I realized what she was trying to say. I stared at her and asked, "Aunt Nerissa, are you pregnant?"
She did not deny anything and instead said, "Well, it's only been three months. It's not certain yet. Jarred and I plan to have a wedding soon, but we do not have the courage to tell Hendrix. This is why we kept postponing."
I remembered Hendrix had once said that he did not agree to the marriage between Aunt Nerissa and Jarred, because Jarred was part of the Milton family, and Hendrix had a grudge against them. Therefore, he did not agree to it.
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but look at Nerissa and said, "Aunt Nerissa, Mr. Milton is part of the Milton family. Are you aware?"
She nodded her head calmly. "I'm aware. I am also aware of all the private disputes between Hendrix and the Milton family. However, all these exist only in the business world. Jarred is not involved in all these things. He's just a simple old professor. He's been alone his entire life. He just wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Arianna, if you can help me persuade Hendrix, I'd appreciate it. I'm old, and it's not easy for me to meet a person that I want to settle down with."
I knew what Nerissa meant, but I didn't know how to explain it to Hendrix. Sebastian had just been arrested, and no one was sure who would become the next heir of the Milton family. We were not certain if the Miltons would go up against the Roberts again in the future.
All these things were still uncertain.
