I did not notice that something was amiss with Hendrix while we were heading back to the villa. As I was about to head upstairs to take a shower, he sat on the sofa and said bitterly, "So, you never considered telling me, huh? Aren't you aware that this hurts my feelings?"
I was stunned for a moment. When I looked over at him, I saw him giving me a resentful look. "No, that has never been my intention," I replied. "I wanted to tell you after discussing with my parents."
He looked at me and said, "Why didn’t you tell me then?"
I was exasperated. This man was acting like a kid. "Yes, I'm going to Asherton. I did take into consideration what dad said this morning. I know it doesn't sound convincing, but I can't afford to let Anne wait any longer. So I decided to go to Asherton to find out more about organ trading. If I manage to find matching bone marrow for the transplant, we needn't keep worrying."
He pursed his lips and scowled at me. "Are you going alone?" he said.
I nodded. When I saw his disgruntled look, I could not help but ask, "Can you take a few days off work though? Or do you have a lot of work to attend to?"
He frowned and said, "I'll come along."
I wanted to decline but I held back, knowing that he would not agree. I nodded and said, "Alright then, let's go there together."
Still feeling a little sleepy, I then went upstairs to take a shower, just as Hendrix happened to receive an incoming call.
