Upon hearing this, Valerie nodded slightly and did not ask any more questions.
After a long day, I was really tired. When Valerie left my room, I washed up and went to bed. Anne slept in my arms and I found comfort from the warmth of her tiny body.
A child was all a mother needed. This was true. As long as I had Anne, I would be fine, despite all hardship.
I could feel the care and love from Valerie... If we hadn't had so many misunderstandings in the past, we would be such a wonderful family now, wouldn't we?
The next day...
In the gloomy Jarold City, the sun shone through the clouds and filled the bedroom with morning sun. It was warm and cheerful.
I woke up slightly out of breath and found Anne curled into a tiny ball sleeping on my chest. Her tiny mouth was heaving and she looked extremely adorable. The front of my shirt was slightly damp from her drool.
I looked at her pink face. She seemed to have grown a little chubbier recently. However, I could still make out the firm look on her features, which greatly resembled Josiah's.
"Knock knock!" There was a knock on the door, and I moved Anne to the bed.
