After a moment of silence, Rowane said, "I've always been curious about your marriage with Hendrix. How did you, a woman without any prestigious status or background, manage to stay by Hendrix's side for so many years? After seeing the missing daughter of the Moore Family, I finally understood. Hendrix's first love when he was young was Miss Moore, but the both of them ended up separating, and you became her substitute."
She paused for a moment before speaking again. "Actually, if Andrea had become Hendrix's wife at the end, I would at least feel relieved. Her looks and figure might not be better than mine, but she has good parents. The Moore Family is strong and powerful, and she could be considered a match for Hendrix. I do acknowledge that. However, you're different. I'm not satisfied with you. You are nothing compared to me. You don't even have a prestigious family, so who do you think you are? Do you think you're worthy of Hendrix?”
I pursed my lips. I had forgotten about it. For so many years, although the Moore Family knew the whole story, they had never publicized that Andrea was not the daughter of the Moore Family in order to maintain their reputation.
It was probably due to them feeling indebted towards Andrea. Although Andrea had left the Moore Family, in certain aspects, she was still under their protection by posing as one of them.
Rowane had probably failed to do her research, which is why she had brought up the matter.
I didn't intend to argue with her. I simply said, "A lighter worth ten dollars could still light up a cigarette that is worth tens of thousands. Miss Zanes, only a marriage without love needs one to consider whether both parties are worthy of each other, but a marriage with love doesn't. For both Hendrix and I, our marriage has at least been blessed by our parents. Outsiders are not qualified at all to judge us."
She sneered, "Oh really?" Putting aside the coffee spoon in her hand, she leaned back against the chair and looked at me with disdain.
"Are you really that sure that Hendrix loves you? Is there any sort of love between you and Hendrix?"
