Edith was fuming with rage. To think that Willow Nason could be such a shameless slut!

If looks could kill, Edith would have cut Willow to shreds.

After the secretary had left the room, Willow hurried back over to Jasper’s desk, being careful not to get too close. “Mr. Hughes, it was the other people in the lift gossiping, not me!” she insisted. “I’m not the one spreading those rumors around!”

Her eyes were wide with anxiety, and moist from sexual arousal. She was a portrait of innocence, deeply convincing… yet also wildly alluring.

Jasper himself hadn’t cooled down yet, either. Now, Willow was moving towards him again, as such a heart-wrenchingly pitiful sight to see…

His throat tightened. He rose up, long legs carrying him to her, exuding a manly aura of overwhelming power and unfathomable danger.

“Well, if you had nothing to do with those rumors, what are you so nervous for?” Step-by-step, he bore down on her menacingly.

Willow retreated before his advance. “It really wasn’t me, sir! Why would I do that, anyway? It does me no good whatsoever!”

Sunlight flooded in through tall windows, lending her eyes a glowing radiance. From Jasper’s point-of-view, her eyes were like a pair of crystal marbles, flawless and clear, catching the light in a dazzling display, overlaid with the dappled shadows of her long eyelashes.

Jasper hooked an arm around her slender waist and tugged forcefully, pulling her against himself, two pieces of the same puzzle joining together.

“It does you no good whatsoever? If everyone starts to believe that you might really be my woman… well, that’s what you’re hoping for, isn’t it?”

His voice was low and dangerous, with a hint of suave intrigue.

Willow blinked furiously, startled. Bracing both hands against his chest, she tried to fight him off. Oh, no! There was something too suggestive about being caught in this position with him!

“Mr. Hughes, I have no such motives! I’m not a gossip! All I’m here for is an honest job with steady pay. That’s all!”

Heart pounding desperately, she fought to get free of his grip.
