Charles Zeigler and Lars Lawson were both shocked by Jasper’s demand.
Just then, Willow arrived with a pot of coffee and several cups on a tray. She served Jasper first, and then the other two as well.
She’d overheard that bit of their conversation. Jasper wanted to destroy Lars!
Oh god, and the way he’d said it… so dreamy!
Lars was an arrogant, self-important man, and also a pervert who didn’t know how to keep his hands to himself. He deserved this!
Truly, Jasper Hughes was a god among men.
Charles was the first to respond, “Very well. We shall do everything in our power to fulfill your requirements.”
Just a lawyer, like any other. Shutting him down would be a simple matter.
If sacrificing Lars Lawson would save the rest of Zeigler Corporation’s top management, including Charles Zeigler himself… well, it was in service to the greater good.
Lars had been expecting Charles to stand up for him. Instead, this instant betrayal caught him by surprise.
Now, he was paralyzed in his seat, sweating even harder than before, his eyes glazing over with despair.
Wracked with confusion, he watched numbly as Willow set down a coffee mug before him, then turned and walked off.
Then he understood: Jasper was getting back at him for her sake.
That time at the restaurant, he’d been a little too eager, and just a little too pushy… and Jasper had happened to be there to see it.
That had to be what this was really about…
If only he’d known that Jasper Hughes already had an interest in Willow Nason… he’d have left her well enough alone! Now his whole life was ruined! What was he going to do, from now on?
Lars didn’t want to go down like this… but Jasper’s aura was simply too powerful, too dangerous.
All he could do was sit there, trembling with grief and terror.
