Rachel looked heartbroken. “Wills, they actually locked you up? You weren’t the one who spread the rumor, and there’s no need to lock someone up for spreading rumors anyway! I’m going to demand an explanation from that damned Hughes Corporation!”
Rachel was fuming with anger.
“Mommy…”
“Mommy…”
Tears welled up in Tristan and Julian’s eyes when they saw Willow being locked behind bars.
Willow immediately tried to calm them down. “Mommy is invincible. This is only temporary. Trust me, I’ll find a way to leave this place with my head held high.”
“Okay!” Tristan nodded. He believed in his mother.
Julian held Willow’s hand and nudged his cheek in her palm as he sobbed. “Mommy…”
Jullian’s tiny cheek felt warm on her hand. This warmth spread to and mellowed her heart.
She had thought she was pitiful too, but Julian’s words filled her with strength so she no longer felt pathetic.
She was a mother. Her children needed her care and protection.
What would happen to her children if she was gone?
Mothers are strong!
She couldn’t compromise or give up no matter what.
She smiled and caressed Julian’s face. “Julian, you have to set an example for your sisters as an older brother. You mustn’t cry when you get home. You can’t tell them that I’m pitiful either. You have to tell them and Grandma that I’m doing well, that I’m working overtime so they can eat better. Do you understand?”
