Zera said, "Hello?"
"It's nothing," Skylar said quickly and hung up the phone.
On the other end, Zera blinked at the phone that had just been disconnected.
The call had been from Skylar. That name sounded familiar to her.
She suddenly realized that Skylar was Charles' sister, the wife of Joe Martin, the CEO of Martin Group. Then she wondered what Skylar would want with Aiken.
As she was still pondering this, Aiken returned from the bathroom. He had just gone to the restroom and didn't take his phone with him.
Today, he had accompanied her to watch a movie. After the movie, they stayed in the lobby to relax for a while. While Aiken was in the restroom, she was scrolling through reviews on a fan platform.
The movie was one in which Charles starred, and Zera played the third supporting female role. She didn't have much screen time, but she believed she had put in the effort and performed well.
However, to her frustration, most of the comments online were about Charles and the female lead.
After scrolling through a bunch of comments, she finally found one that mentioned her, but the comment criticized her performance, saying she didn't convey the character's emotions well.
She was furious. She thought to herself, "This person must be a hater! They can't stand how popular I've become this year, so they're purposely trying to bring me down!"
Just then, Aiken's phone rang. At first, she didn't know who it was, thinking it might be Wendy. But when she realized it was Skylar, she felt relieved.
"I took a call for you earlier. I wasn't sure if it was urgent, so I answered it. She said it was nothing important. It was Skylar who called," she told Aiken.
