If it weren't to target Minerva or Emerson, they wouldn't go to such lengths to indirectly use Maxine. Moreover, Maxine's parents knew Emerson's, so they could easily exploit the situation.
Minerva quickly regained her composure after the shock. She now understood part of what was going on. "So, it's highly likely someone wants to manipulate Maxine. Once we figure out who gave her the bracelet, we'll know who's behind this."
"Maxine rushed off to film and didn't have time to tell me who gave her the bracelet," Skylar replied.
Minerva sneered. "These people can't directly cause trouble for Emerson and me, so they're trying to drag others into their schemes. Maxine is so young, and they're already ruining her life, making her think she's been reborn and even married."
Skylar nodded in agreement.
"I'll look into this. It won't be difficult. It'll be easier to handle since we know it's the negative item causing this. I'll talk to Emerson about it. Thank you, Skylar," Minerva said, feeling deeply grateful.
Without Skylar, she would have spent the night worrying and second-guessing herself. She might have even questioned if her relationship and marriage with Emerson were somehow stolen from someone else.
Luckily, it was just someone meddling with negative items. After ending the call with Minerva, Skylar looked at the street ahead, her brow furrowing.
There was now a negative item in existence that had the power to make someone believe they had been reborn. The appearance of one such item meant there would likely be more. Such things were dangerous.
If reincarnation were real, it might offer people a second chance—like her, getting to restart life with a chance to save herself. But now, it was about negative items manipulating people's memories.
The people whose memories were altered could no longer control their thoughts. The more they thought about it, the more extreme they became, eventually convincing themselves they had been abandoned.
