Skylar didn’t say anything as she stood up and grabbed her phone. She was worried about missing any updates from Jeremy. There might be news about Paul’s situation. 

When Skylar finally retrieved her phone and saw a new message on WhatsApp, she was disappointed to find that the message wasn’t from Jeremy but from Ned. 

Looking at Ned’s profile picture, she froze for a moment. She clicked to read the message. 

Ned said, “Almost all fights at the airport have been canceled today.” 

Skylar read the message, unsure of what Ned meant. She wondered if he was just expressing concern for her travel safety. 

Noticing that Skylar was staring at her phone in a daze, not replying to any messages, and looking somewhat troubled, Charles asked with concern, “Who is it? Is someone bothering you?” 

“It’s Ned.” 

“Ned?” Charles was momentarily confused but soon remembered. “Ned? The guy who looks a lot like Joe?” 

He had seen some news during their filming downtime and heard Steven mention Ned. Although people said they resembled each other to Charles, they looked like the same person. 

He had been involved in numerous projects over the past few years, including roles where characters fake their own deaths and assume new identities. So when he saw the news, he couldn’t help but think that Ned might be a cover for Joe. 

However, if Ned really was a cover for Joe, that would be crossing the line. It was one thing to keep secrets, but hiding it from Skylar after making her search for over three years was too 

much. 

Of course, he realized this was just an unfounded thought and purely his imagination. 

Skylar replied, “Yeah, it’s him.” 

“Isn’t he supposed to be engaged? Why is he reaching out to you privately? Is he having some kind of inappropriate thoughts about you?” Charles asked, sounding quite alert. 

Some people might have appeared polished on the surface, but underneath, they could have been completely unscrupulous. 

It was frustrating to think how some men could be so shameless, believing that money gave them the right to act however they pleased. 

He was furious. Such men could pursue anyone they wanted, but if they wanted to go after his sister, it would depend on whether he approved.

She wasn’t narcissistic enough to believe that someone she barely knew would have any interest in her. Ned was probably just being polite. 

Charles raised an eyebrow and said, “Skye, I’m a man, so I know how men think. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. 

“If a guy is being extra nice to you, it’s either because he has ulterior motives or wants something from you. I don’t think his intentions are pure, so be careful.” 

“Okay,” Skylar replied with a nod.
