Mr. Williams Wants His Ex-Wife Back novel Chapter 153

Adam wouldn't let others touch him, so Rebecca hauled him out of the elevator and headed to the car waiting outside the bar.

Rebecca used all her might and shoved Adam into the rear seat with the help of the bodyguards.

She fastened the safety belt for him before getting into the car from the other side.

After she got in, she felt like collapsing. Her hands and legs went limp. It was already late autumn, and the temperature at night was just about ten celsius degrees, but she was drenched in sweat.

"Go," she said to the driver.

"Yes, madam," The driver replied and started the engine.

As the car sped out, Adam's head tilted and rested on Rebecca's shoulder.

Her shoulder was skinny, but Adam found it very comfortable.

Rebecca turned her head and regarded Adam's face under the dim light in the car. He seemed to be in a drunken stupor and she could smell alcohol on his breath. She leaned back with an uncomplicated smile and closed her eyes to have a rest.

[...]

When they got home, Arthur and Julia were still awake. Seeing Adam unconscious, Julia was worried sick. She attended Adam herself with the servant she trusted the most.

Rebecca stood on the side and watched quietly. Soon, she heard Adam mumbling on the bed with a pained face.

"I'm sorry, dear."

"Dear, don't leave me. Please stay."

"Dear, it's all on me. We'll work it out, won't we?"

"What is he talking about!" Julia stopped wiping Adam's face and glared at Rebecca. "Did you fight with Adam and make him angry?"

"No," Rebecca replied in a level voice.

It was most likely that Adam's "dear" was Linda instead of her.

So, Rebecca didn't care and was unperturbed.

"Listen, if you dare to quarrel with Adam and make him unhappy, I won't be easy on you," Julia warned savagely.

Rebecca opened her mouth but said nothing at last. She turned around and walked to the bathroom.

Outside the bedroom, Arthur stood by the door and looked at Adam lying there unconsciously. He asked Butler Williams, "Who was Adam with today?"

"Mr. Williams sent Ms. Smith to the Capen family and went to Skyline No.1 to accompany Linda in the morning. He left in the afternoon and met some friends in the bar," Butler Williams reported with minute details.

Arthur's face darkened as he listened, but he said nothing.

[...]

Adam had completely passed out and was woken by the constant clattering of typing the next morning.

He opened his eyes and followed the noise to see Rebecca.

At this moment, she was sitting on the carpet in front of the picture window with her legs crossed and her laptop on her legs. Her head was lowered and her fingers were flying on the keyboard.

Clear sunshine poured in from the window and danced on her slightly tousled short hair, smooth face, and fair-colored clothes.

The white gauze curtain blew in the autumn wind. Rebecca sat below the flapping curtain, undisturbed. She was very focused on what she was doing and looked like a breathtaking picture that Adam couldn't tear his eyes away from.

So he just lied on his side and gazed at Rebecca quietly. He lost track of time until she happened to look up and met his eyes. Adam turned up the corners of his lips and propped his body up. "What time is it now?" He asked serenely.
