Marrying the Man in the Dark (Damien and Cherise) novel Chapter 1210

Chapter 1210 Revelations and Accusations
But things did not go as he had thought they would.

The man drew a slow breath from his cigarette, his gaze shifting to the driver and the silent vigil of bodyguards beside him. "Let's make our way back to the city," he murmured with a hint of urgency.

"Go to the hospital. We're heading to Aunt Dorothy's ward."

The hospital loomed ahead, its sterile halls echoing with subdued whispers and the soft tread of nurses' shoes.

In a quiet room, bathed in the gentle glow of afternoon light filtering through sheer curtains, a middle-aged woman lay in serene repose upon crisp white sheets.

Beside her sat Jude, his features etched with concern and weariness, his eyes never leaving her face.

The man gently clasped his mother's hand, a fleeting smile touching his lips. "Mom, I'll honor your wishes."

"At the end of the day, he's my father by flash and blood. I can't take matters into my own hands," Jude asserted quietly.

"This time around, Damien and Colin want to confront Father. It's out of my hands," Jude added.

Dorothy's hand twitched ever so slightly, a subtle movement that could have conveyed either satisfaction or discontent—it was difficult to discern her true feelings.

Shortly thereafter, the door to the private room swung open with a whisper of hinges.

Colin strode in first, his presence commanding yet tinged with concern, followed closely by Damien and Cherise, their expressions a blend of determination and apprehension.

Bringing up the rear, Anthony was flanked by two imposing figures who escorted him with a firm grip.

As they entered, Damien gestured subtly to the bodyguards, signaling for them to release Anthony and withdraw discreetly.

With a soft click, the door closed behind them, enveloping the room once more in a hushed atmosphere fraught with unspoken tension.

"Uncle Anthony," Damien began ominously.

Settling onto a nearby sofa, Damien shifted into a more relaxed posture, drawing Cherise close beside him. His gaze casually flickered towards Anthony. "It's been quite a while since our paths crossed," Damien remarked casually.

"I nearly didn't recognize you when I arrived in Yatesville and caught sight of you," Damien added, his tone icy.

Anthony had once been intimately connected with the Lenoir family, but their ties faded when Damien was just three, amidst the Gray family's turbulent times. After receiving crucial financial aid from Hansen, Anthony lost touch with Damien.

He had presumed that a toddler like Damien wouldn't remember him, especially after so many years had passed.

Yet, Anthony had underestimated Damien's remarkable memory and sharp intellect.
